We finally got some much-needed river therapy this weekend. I can’t believe it is almost July and yesterday is the first time all season that David and I went to the river. The heavy rains we’ve been having has effected the water levels and stirred up the water a lot. It’s good for playing, but not great for fishing, which is the reason David is always eager to go. It hasn’t rained in almost a week and even the water is still a little stirred up, we decided to go anyway.
Usually the water is crystal clear, but it was still a little murky. The water levels were so much higher than normal, that we didn’t even get hung up on any rocks like we usually do.
It made my job a lot easier. I am also known as: “The Paddle B!tch” or The Oar Wh*re”.
We see a lot of beautiful creatures on our river trips. Dragonflies of ever color, size and shape, and yesterday I received a visit from a Zebra Swallowtail butterfly.
The fishing didn’t turn out too bad either.
After about six hours on the river, we finished our trip and went home. We had ribeye steaks waiting for us in the fridge that we bought from our local butcher the day before. We took them out of the fridge to warm up to room temperature and I coated them in a salt and pepper crust.
While the steaks were coming up to room temperature, we practiced our fishy faces in front of the camera and then took a nap. 🙂
After our nap we shucked some corn we found in the grocery store. We know it is good on the grill, but our favorite way is to boil it in hot water.
Steaks, baked potato, sweet corn and wine, what a perfect meal to end out a perfect day!
We ate, cleaned up the kitchen and waited for the super moon… Good night world!
