His Royal Highness turns 16 years old today.
It amazes me how this cat ages. A once scared and shy kitten has grown into a grumpy, aggravating loud mouth old man cat. He is old and set in his ways…You know what? We wouldn’t have him any other way. We’ll keep him as long as he wants to stay around.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Atchee boy! We love ya, you crazy rascal!
Angie says
He must have been very well taken care of. They don’t normally live that long, do they? Love that photo where he is stroking the teddy bear! 🙂

Hi Angie – He’s 84 in cat years!! How I got so lucky I will never know. I have heard of a few cats can live to be 20. My aunt had one that was 18 or 19 when he died. You can tell by looking at him he isn’t a spring chicken anymore, but you cannot really tell it by the way he acts. He’s a mess! 🙂
Rachel says
Ugh he’s ADORABLE! Happy Birthday, lil kitty!
The Mountain Kitchen says
Thanks Rachel! He’s a mess and that is an understatement!!
Melissa Birdsong says
Happy Birthday!!!

Thank you, Melissa!

The Mountain Kitchen says
Thank you, Julie. Yes, a senior citizen at 84 cat years!!!

Happy Birthday to HRH!!! He is only 12 years older than Tyler! They are so cute when kittens, they melt my heart. Have a great Day!
The Mountain Kitchen says
David says all the time that if they stayed that small we’d have a dozen! Thanks for his birthday wishes! Tyler is just a wee lad!! 😉
Sarah says
Happy Birthday sweet boy! My little guy turns 13 in a couple of weeks 🙂 We’re both very lucky!
The Mountain Kitchen says
Thanks, Sarah! Yes, extremely lucky! Any problems with hyperthyroidism? My guy’s started around that age… He gets a 1/2 pill twice a day. SO GLAD he doesn’t fight me. He’s extremely easy going!!
Sarah says
Nope, we get his blood work done twice a year and just last week he got the all clear! I’ll keep that in mind though.
The Mountain Kitchen says
That is great! If he gets skinny or gets really hyper those will be a key symptoms. I cannot figure out why cats outgrow their thyroid….

That picture on the right reminds me so much of my own Siamese, especially with that stare! I’m glad to not have cats for now, but I sure do miss them on some days.

Thanks for sharing your story. I like the name references from Dances with Wolves…lol! Your cat sure reminds me of Atchee. ☺
