It was the sponge bath before work...what a depressing way to start the day! Then it turns out you don't need a well dug deeper but a little plastic gadget replaced...it's often the simplest of things (this sounds like some great metaphorical lesson in life!). But that brisket....looks bloody delicious, have never used this cut on the grill and can't wait to find out your secrets. Happy hot showering Debbie x

Thanks, Dana. I'm totally over it now. Back to showering and flushing toilets in my own house! I grew up with a shallow well as a child. I've even run out of water in the shower before. NO FUN! I think what got me down the most was that we were responsible to get it fixed. Totally fear of the unknown. The brisket was a definite bright spot to our weekend. It also made great bartering with our neighbors for the shower...lol! ;)
Tomorrow's post is all about that gorgeous chunk of beef!

Reading this, I could feel your pain all the way from here
Oh man, I am so sorry girl, you've been having a lousy start to summer :(
Really glad things worked themselves out and you were able to shower and get clean at your neighbors.

The brisket looks beautiful though!

Oh, I followed this story and identified so much since we have been through the water-less process more than once in the 26 years here. We even had to find a new place for a new well! And once we went a whole weekend without water too. You have given me another great idea for a post.... that story.
Thank you! :) ~Dor

Hi Duncan!
Yes, I'm glad it all worked out too. I grew up with a shallow well. Can remember being in the shower washing my hair and running out of water. It was quite a challenge until my parents had a deeper well dug. Snow and ice storms always knocked our power out, so growing up without water at times was nothing new to me. I just panicked because we were responsible for having the problem fixed. It wasn't cheap, but it could have been much worse.
Without our neighbors, we would have had to go to a hotel for sure! Stay tuned for tomorrow's post about that brisket. It was definitely one of the bright spots of the weekend! ;)
As always, thanks for your comments. I enjoy reading them!

Glad it all worked out. Not having running water is a huge challenge. I have some extra bottles stored in the garage but not nearly enough to last a family of six more than a day or two.

All that being said, the brisket looked fantastic!
