I hope I can save someone from having to go through this, Barbara. Glad your getting checked out. Yes, hind sight is 20/20, but I never thought this could happen to ME. That's the problem with everyone's thinking. That's why I will continue to share this journey I'm on. Thanks for your support and for reading!

Thanks for continuing to share your story., I am pale, freckled, had blistered sun burns as a teen, and ignorantly used tanning beds. I strip for my annual "spot checks" with a dermatologist. I also nag my honey to get his and he had pre-cancerous spots frozen on his face. If only we knew then what we know now!

Debbie, what an honest, heartfelt post. I'm so glad you're sharing your story - and honestly you are such a good writer, I felt the panic and frustration rise in me as I was reading your experience. I just can't imagine what you've gone through, but posts like this help us all be present and conscious of the importance of our health. Big hugs. <3 Here's to a wonderful and healthy 2017!!!! Keep sharing your story!

Hi Sherri,
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad you and your daughters have gotten checked out. Skin cancer of any kind can get aggressive if not treated.
I'm not sure what I would do without David. He's crazy, but he keeps me sane through all of this.
Thanks for reading and for the prayers!

Thanks for sharing your story. I have been through the same fears. Yes I had Melanoma. I grew up in a time when there was no talk of skin cancer. I lived in an area where I was always at the river or the Outerbanks. Yes I am a person who is at the greatest risk. When I go in for my check ups I know they are like man she is covered in freckles and I am always looking for a new spot and if they change in shape and color. Now my mom is going through the same fears. This past year she had basal cell on her nose and she had to go back last week and have another biopsy done to check to make sure they got it all. My daughters have gone in to be checked and one of them has had 3 bi op done.
God Bless you and know you are in my prayers. I know you have a great husband. You are very lucky he is there by your side. I know he is your biggest supporter!

Hi Amy! I'm glad you and your sister caught things before it was too late. We are all very lucky ladies. If I can help just one person from having to go through this, it will be worth it. My hope is that people will understand Melanoma can happen to them very easily. Thanks for your support and kind words always! God bless you too!

I'm so sorry you have had this very tumultuous year with your health. As you know I have had two melanomas removed in less than two years and it can be unsettling. I have other chronic health issues so dealing with doctors and tests are somewhat usual although still unnerving at times. I know that sharing your experiences with melanoma can, and most likely will, bring awareness to others and may even save someone's life now and/or in the future. My own experience after my first successful removal of melanoma, shared with my younger sister, moved her to make a dermatology appointment. She had skin removed from two places and said she would not have considered it if I had not encouraged her to get a whole body skin check. She never burns like I do and tans easily so thought she was much less likely to have skin cancer. Thank you for sharing your stories and know that someone will take a closer look at their own skin and ask a doctor to take a closer look. God bless you for sharing your knowledge and your light.

Hi Debbie, how horrible for you to have to go through all that, but YAY that everything is fine! I go back in 2 weeks for my annual skin check after having squamous skin cancer removed 4 years ago. I also have white coat syndrome horribly, my BP is through the roof when I get it checked. Sending lots of prayers for clear skin checks for the rest of your life! xoxo

Oh my friend such a year for you. A favorable ending to 2016. Although, my SIL basal cell was one time occurrence I know from her the fear of her check-ups, they are real and so scary.
