Y’all, I finally found a homemade ranch dressing recipe I can live with!
David loves chicken wings and he made some for on Sunday to enjoy while watching the Super Bowl. We didn’t have a bottle of the store-bought stuff, so this was the perfect opportunity for me to try another fresh homemade ranch dressing recipe.
I tried making homemade ranch dressing before, but I really didn’t care for the recipe. You know when your brain gives you an idea of how something should taste? Well, the last recipe was just okay but wasn’t my idea of how ranch dressing should taste.
I adapted this new recipe to meet my taste and finally, I have a really good recipe for homemade ranch dressing. In fact, this recipe is so quick and easy to make, I will not be buying the store-bought stuff anymore!

This recipe is best made at least an hour ahead of time. If you make this homemade ranch dressing in advance to ensure the flavors are nice and blended throughout.
Also, this ranch dressing will thicken up slightly as it sits in the fridge, which is kinda what you want when it comes to dipping.
All you have to do is whisk all of the ingredients together in a medium bowl. Then cover and chill until needed.
For a lighter version of this recipe with fewer calories, you can substitute plain Greek yogurt instead of using mayonnaise.
This recipe makes about a pint of ranch dressing, but you can store the dressing in a jar or container with a lid in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Use the homemade ranch to dip chicken wings into, drizzle it on a tossed salads, use as a dip for chicken nuggets, or potatoes, put it in sandwiches, burgers, and wraps. Just think of all the dishes you could use this dressing for! The possibilities are endless and no matter what, it’ll all be delicious!

Homemade Ranch Dressing
Ingredients
- ⅔ cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried dill (or 1 tablespoon fresh dill)
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or 1 tablespoon fresh parsley)
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together all ingredients and chill until needed.

try putting some garlic powder in it…I never use the bottled kind I always use the powder and add either garlic powder or dill
