Do you know how to fry an egg?

It’s ok if you don’t know how to fry an egg. Relax, frying an egg isn’t difficult to do. If you’ve never done it and have always wanted to learn how. Below are the steps you should take to fry an egg perfectly.

How to fry an egg:

  • 1 tablespoon butter or more as needed to coat the bottom of the pan
  • 1 or more large eggs

  • Small nonstick skillet
  • Lid, to cover the pan, (optional)
  • Thin Spatula

  1. Heat the non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the butter to the pan and melt. Swirl the pan as the butter melts to evenly coat the surface of the pan. Wait until it starts to foam and begins to sizzle.
  2. Crack the egg into a small bowl, measuring cup or ramekin first to make sure the egg is good.
This will also make it easier to transfer the egg into the pan intact.
  3. Slip the egg into the pan. Cook 3 to 4 minutes.  The whites will start to set, followed by the yolk. (Stop at this step if you prefer your eggs sunny side up.)
  4. Either cover the skillet with a lid (the steam from the egg and the butter will gently cook the top) OR carefully flip eggs over and cook for 1 minute longer or until the yolks reach desired degree of firmness.
  5. Remove from heat. Gently slide a spatula under the egg and transfer the egg to a plate.
  6. Enjoy immediately!
