Spice Jar KitThis is my personal favorite and the one I use every day!
Ingredients
2tablespoonsdried oregano
1tablespoondried parsley
1tablespoondried basil
1tablespoondried marjoram
1teaspoondried rosemary
1teaspoondried thyme
Instructions
Measure the Herbs
Combine all the dried herbs: 2 tablespoons oregano, 1 tablespoon parsley, 1 tablespoon basil, 1 tablespoon marjoram, 1 teaspoon rosemary, and 1 teaspoon thyme in a small bowl.
Mix Thoroughly
Stir the herbs together until evenly blended. For a finer texture, you can lightly crush the herbs with a mortar and pestle or pulse them in a spice grinder.
Store Properly
Transfer the mixture to an airtight jar or container. Keep in a cool, dark place away from heat and sunlight.
Use
Sprinkle your homemade Italian seasoning on pasta, pizza, roasted vegetables, soups, or meats. Start with about 1 teaspoon per serving and adjust to taste.
Notes
This recipe makes about ¼ cup of seasoning.
Store the blend in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.
For best flavor, use within 6 months.
Lightly crushing the herbs before mixing releases more aroma and flavor.
Feel free to adjust any herb to suit your taste.
If your herbs look dull or don't have much smell, it’s time to replace them.
Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy version.
Use about one teaspoon of seasoning per serving, then adjust as needed.
Great on pasta, chicken, veggies, soups, and pizza.
