I turned another year older last week. I'm so thankful to enjoy another trip on this earth around the sun (with sunscreen, of course).⁣

I lost 40 pounds last year and managed to keep it off a whole year. When I say that I mean that I have not been more than 1 pound over my goal weight in 365 days! I know this because I get on the scale twice day to keep myself in check.⁣

Now, I'm working with David to get him slimmed down. It's not easy. You know we both LOVE TO EAT!! ⁣

I cannot tell you how much better I feel about myself. And I'm pretty sure I feel better than I did 10 years ago. I have so much energy. It feels really good to feel good in my own skin again. ⁣

People ask me all the time how I did it. Expecting a magically diet or pill. It was none of that. Only diet (counting calories) and exercise got me back to the weight I was in my late 20's. ⁣

It's really amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it!! I'm living proof that you don't have to give up everything to get where you want to be.

Daylight savings has forced me to become a weekend blogger. We now wake up and go to work in the dark and get home in the dark. So I am taking advantage of this time to revisit recipes I haven't had in a while. It gives me a chance to test them and ensure you are able to make them too.⁣

Y'all, I had pizza for my birthday dinner on Thursday. It may not sound like a big deal to some of you, but it was to me.

Pizza is my favorite food. I used to eat pizza every week without fail; sometimes even twice a week. However, to get control of my weight and my health I made drastic changes to my diet. That meant giving up pizza every week.
Now when I eat pizza it has to be "REALLY GOOD PIZZA". And do you know what else? Pizza is special and tastes even better than it ever has before. Happy Birthday to me! 😁🍕❤️

David didn’t like beets until he met me. Now he loves them just as good as I do. I think a lot of people are afraid of them. Fresh beets are a strange color, usually coated with dried soil and they look rather strange with those long tail-like roots.Perhaps people have only had beets canned from the store, which tend to be rather mushy. I used to eat them canned, but once I had them roasted like a potato, I haven’t been down the canned vegetable aisle at the grocery store again for beets.⁣
