Pollinating A Jalapeno Plant {I Made Jalapeno Babies With Jose!

Hi Everybody,

The new site is up, but that is about it. I have been working behind the scenes to add the old posts back into the site, but it is a grueling process and it takes a lot of time. This week hasn’t been a great week. A week is never good when it starts off dropping your cell phone in the toilet (sigh).

I haven’t had time to get in the kitchen (which is filthy because I haven’t thoroughly cleaned house in almost a month) and cook, but even if I had the time, I really haven’t been inspired lately to cook anything. Let me rephrase that, I have been inspired, by a lot of things I have read about, but not enough to break out of the funk, get off the couch and cook something. David and I have both been battling a nasty cold for the last two weeks. I think it has finally run its course on both of us and starting to go away. Let’s face it, when you are not feeling well the last thing you want to do is cook. All I ever want when I don’t feel is carby goodness, like pizza, mac & cheese, oh and of course there is always chocolate….

Even if I was feeling well, I haven’t wanted to cook lately, which is strange. Most of the time, you can hardly keep me out of the kitchen. I don’t think I am alone in saying that. I have seen some of my favorite bloggers say the same. So what is it? Why are we not feeling it, food bloggers? I don’t know, but I hope the funk ends soon. I have missed blogging.

On a much brighter note, I have something pretty cool to share with you. Do you remember Jose? “Jose Jalapeno on the Deck”? I introduced him to you back in December. He’s the little jalapeno pepper plant that miraculously stayed alive and flourished after I fertilized him. Well, Jose and I made jalapenos babies together!!! Not just one, but two!!  I took an old makeup brush and trimmed it up to make it wispy, then I fanned the pollen from the stamen onto the pistil and about a week later, ¡Hola!

I tried to pollinate Jose a time before with no luck. The bloom just shriveled up and dropped off. Looking back I think I may have waited too long after the pollen had started to come out of the sac. You can imagine my excitement when I discovered the little jalapenos forming. I tried to show David,  but he said he didn’t want to see or hear anything about me making jalapeno babies with Jose…

My elementary science teacher would be proud. I actually needed to know how to make a plant reproduce. I guess the name “Debbie” really does mean “Bee”.

BaHAHHAHAHAH-Jose is precious with or without babes! Get off that couch, retrieve the phone from the commode and get into the kitchen with clean hands and cook!!! Really, when you have a bad cold you do not have any energy. Hopefully, some of that has returned. The time involved to convert blog has worn you out (it is involved-but it is worth it Debbie). Your’e fatigued I believe…Hang in the weekend is coming!!! Happy V-Day to you two! Your Florida Bud, Cheryl

Sorry about the funk you’re in, I can completely relate!!
It’ll pass. It’s just a compilation of frustration and trying to recover your posts is paaainful.
And sometimes you just wanna be a bum and not do shit.
    Nothing wrong with that either.
We’ll be here, take your time love.
