Winter has arrived on the mountain.

Winter has arrived on the mountain. Snows in December and early January are the prettiest, because of the beautiful Christmas lights. Tis the season!

Friday night, when I arrived home, the fog had set in. It was warm the day before, but it rained all day and turned really cold. It rained all night that night.

By Sunday, a small snow storm moved across our area. It started snowing at first light on Sunday.

David and I made the first fire of this season. Now, we are spoiled to the warmth of the fireplace and just can’t get warm without it.

Before noon, David and I ventured outside. We had to get the “HAVE TO GET OUT THERE IN IT” out of our systems. We love being in the snow just as much as we love watching it fall.

The deer in the new fallen snow were awesome to watch from our window.

We received ¼-inch of ice on top of 3-inches of snow during the early hours of Monday and deemed it unsafe to try at go to work in that mess! That was Snow Day Number 1.

And on early Tuesday morning, guess what happened, again? Yep, more snow. Snow Day Number 2 had begun. I woke up to find that the company I work for was closed. David attempted to go to work, but ended up giving up and coming back home. He asked me to sit a bowl outside to collect snow for snow cream, before he even got back home.

By lunchtime, there was enough snow in the bowl to make snow cream.

We usually use condensed milk in our snow cream, but we didn’t have any. David insisted on making some, and googled a recipe that called for heavy cream, which we happen to have. It was really good!

By 1:00 – 2:00 the storm began to break up and pull out. It left us with about 4-inch of powder.

For the second day in a row, we went outside and cleaned off the deck and vehicles. If you look closely, you can see me on the deck in this picture.

I really don’t have a favorite season on the mountain. I love them all. It is beautiful all the time.

This is the end of the blog posting, however, it is not the end of our winter. Apparently there is something else brewing and coming this way for Saturday. I can’t wait!
