The holiday season is upon us once again. Can you believe it?
Me either!
Today is Black Friday and I don’t know about you, but it doesn’t mean anything to me. I didn’t want to get up at the butt-crack-O’-dawn to hit the stores in the freezing cold. If you are reading this, chances are you feel the same way. I mean, why go out shopping when you can sit around in your PJs and shop on your couch at home, warm, under a blanket?
No hustle and bustle. No lines. No rude people jabbing their carts into you.
I like shopping from the comforts of my own home, where it is peaceful, quiet and calm, with NO STRESS! Shower optional…
Perhaps you do your Christmas shopping online too or at least most of it? If so, I have a few Christmas gift ideas for that person on your list that loves to cook. I recently asked folks on my social media accounts:
“What is the one kitchen gadget you cannot live without?”
I wanted genuine answers, so I did not mention I was looking for Christmas gift ideas for this post. I received a lot of great responses. The responses are listed below. Perhaps this list of Christmas gift ideas has something perfect for that person in your life that loves to cook. I found the kitchen items listed here are incredibly useful. Some I own and couldn’t live without. Others have been added to my wish list. I really love turning these responses into Christmas gift ideas that could help anyone.
Okay! So let’s hit up Amazon and get some shopping done!
12 Christmas Gift Ideas For A Person That Loves to Cook
#1 A GOOD SHARP KNIFE
A Chef’s knife is the single most important tool in the kitchen because it is used to create almost every dish. It is important to have sharp knives in the kitchen. Having a sharp knife gives you more control and there is less chance of the knife slipping, giving you accurate, consistent slices, not to mention it could save your digits from cuts!
I love my salad spinner! It’s a really useful tool in the kitchen. I use my salad spinner to wash and dry fresh leafy vegetables the most, but salad spinners have many uses besides washing and drying greens. Click HERE to learn 5 uses for a salad spinner from a post I shared a while back.
A cast iron skillet is multi-functional cookware for all your favorite foods. Whether you are frying up fish or, roasting a BBQ pork tenderloin, making a camper’s breakfast hash or baking apple crisp, cast iron is perfect for the job. Cast iron is naturally nonstick and easy to clean and maintain when following these simple steps. I love my Lodge cast iron pan!
I use way too many paper towels when I cook, so I try to use kitchen towels, instead. Dish towels and clothes are a quick and practical addition to any kitchen and help reduce the costs of expensive name brand paper towels. I really need to add these kitchen towels to my own list!
One of my friends said that they cannot live without their Ninja Blender and another said they cannot live without their Vitamix Blender! Although I do not own one myself, I would GLADLY accept one as a gift (hint hint). Blenders are so important for making smooth and creamy soups, smoothies and more! What a great Christmas gift idea!
Many times, dishes are ruined because they are overcooked, hence the importance of timing when making your favorite recipes. I use both my microwave and oven timers religiously. Today, almost every smartphone, tablet, oven, or microwave has a timer, but sometimes you need more than one when making more than one dish at a time.
Tongs are like an extra set of invincible fingers. You can grab things that are too hot to handle. They can flip meat on the grill, serve salads onto a plate, and even can be used to juice citrus. I love my Faberware tongs and have a couple of pairs in different sizes.
Whether it was a joke or not I had several friends say corkscrew and bottle openers were the most important kitchen gadgets they could not live without. I think this was a terrific suggestion and if you drink or not, one day you may need a corkscrew or bottle opener for friends and family that come to visit.
<— Check out this Waiters Corkscrew. It’s a corkscrew, bottle opener, and foil cutter all in one!
#9 ELECTRIC GRIDDLE
Griddles are perfect when feeding lots of people, especially at breakfast time. You can cook up eggs, bacon, pancakes, French toast, and other breakfast foods easily with lots of surface space. You can also cook burgers and other hot sandwiches such as grilled cheese. We love our Presto Electric Grill!
“I only need coffee in days that end in “Y”.” Apparently, I’m not the only one that feels this way because there a Keurig was mentioned more than once in the comments.
Another friend said she could not live without her mandoline and her sister backed her up too! A mandoline creates endless round slices, julienne cuts, crinkle cuts, cubes, dices. I have been using mine more and more and especially love how it slices potatoes for potatoes au gratin.
KitchenAid stand mixers always make the kitchen gadget list. They are reliable and have so many wonderful attachments making them a very versatile kitchen gadget. It’s always there when you need it and it makes a very pretty countertop display item.
I hope you find this list helpful and full of Christmas gift ideas. Have fun shopping for all of the people in your life who love to cook from the comfort of your couch.
Happy Holidays!

I have everything but the griddle (not a pancake person, but I do have a stove-top one) and the kuerig – because I don’t drink coffee or much tea! Great list! I would add an electric knife sharpener!
