To celebrate our one year anniversary, David and I went to find warmth and sunshine in the Florida Keys. We ate at some really wonderful local restaurants. Here are some of the wonderful dishes we had:
The “New” Snooks Bayside Restaurant &
Grand Tiki Bar, Key Largo

DAVID’S LUNCH: Grilled Hog Fish with veggies and rice.

Margaritaville, Key West
You can’t go into Margaritaville without having a Margarita!

See, here’s a close up after the syrup was poured…
El Meson De Pepe, Key West
LUNCH: Our first Cuban Cuisine: I had the Picadillo Habanero – Savory ground beef cooked with tomatoes, onions, garlic, bell peppers, cumin, bay leaves, oregano, olives, capers, and raisins. David had the Lechon Asado – Traditional Cuban roasted pork marinated in cumin-mojo sauce. YUM!!
DESSERT: Key Lime Pie (of course)
It was awful! Just kidding. A close second to Snook’s! 🙂
A&B Lobster House, Key West – Our anniversary dinner
Check out the butter. So cool!
APPETIZER: We both had the Lobster Bisque – Laced with cognac & Maine lobster medallions garnished with caviar. Absolutely amazing!
MAIN COURSE: Grouper Oscar – A Napoleon of pan-seared grouper and jumbo lump crab cake served with asparagus spears and topped with a citrus hollandaise for both of us. OMG!!
DESSERT: Our very kind waitress brought us a complimentary slice of Key Lime Pie. 🙂
MEATLESS MONDAY BREAKFAST: Spinach & Cheese Empanada w/ an Expresso.
If you ever go down to the Keys, look for some of these places and give them a try! 🙂
You’ll have to forgive some of the photography, but I don’t like making a scene with a camera in a restaurant.

The shrimp po boy looks crazy yummy! Did you see any six toed kitties while you were in Key West?

Yes!! We went to Hemingway’s house for a tour. We saw maybe 10 of the 70 cats that live on the property. That was one of the highlights of our trip. I learned a lot about Hemingway that day and I got to pet an ancestor cat of his 🙂

I used to live in Key Largo, actually right down the road from Snook’s. Your post bought back nice memories. 🙂
