Let’s face it; brisket is a big ole chunk of juicy beef that may sometimes leave you to wonder what you are going to do with all the leftovers. Yes, you can freeze the meat, but you can also be adventurous with the leftovers by reinventing them.

Over the years, David and I have come with recipe ideas that use leftover Texas brisket. From mouthwatering sandwiches to enchiladas and lasagna, we’ve got some of the best ideas you can find to transform leftover brisket into something your whole family will love again and again.

Grab a beer and check out our 5 delicious leftover brisket recipes. The hardest part will be trying to figure out which one to make first!

Smoked Beef Brisket Skillet Mac and Cheese

Loaded with big, rich, bold, cheesy flavor, this smoked beef brisket skillet mac and cheese is made with gooey melted cheddar, and an unexpected horseradish bite of warmth smothered over smoky bits of beef brisket. It comes together in minutes, and you don’t even have to turn on the oven.

Ingredients Needed:

  • ½ pound elbow pasta
  • 1 ½ cups smoked beef brisket chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 1 cup extra-sharp cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 cup horseradish cheddar cheese* grated
  • Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste**

Smoked Brisket Lasagna With BBQ Sauce

Consider this recipe a BBQ Lasagna! This lasagna isn’t like the classic lasagna you already know and love. Instead, the silky lasagna noodles are smothered in layers of gooey cheese, chopped smoked beef brisket, with drizzled with barbecue sauce instead of tomato sauce.

Ingredients Needed:

  • 12 lasagna noodles uncooked
  • 1 pound smoked beef brisket chopped
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 cups extra-sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • Smoked mozzarella (optional)

Smoked Brisket Chili

The smoky brisket is combined with ground chuck, a medley of four different kinds of chiles, onions, and beans slow-cooked in a silky-rich tomato chili sauce. This chili is everything chili should be: thick, hearty, chunky, saucy with full-throttled flavor and a nice subtle spice and smoke. It’s the ultimate comfort food!

Ingredients Needed:

  • 4 New Mexico dried chiles
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil extra-virgin
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 teaspoons cumin divided
  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • 1 medium jalapeno seeded and diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 small poblano chili peppers roasted, seeded, deveined and diced (or one large)
  • 1 pound beef brisket smoked cut into bite-size pieces, (see notes)
  • 1 large chipotle pepper chopped + teaspoon of adobo sauce
  • 28 ounce whole tomatoes canned
  • 10.75 ounces tomato puree canned (or crushed tomatoes)
  • 15.5 ounces kidney beans canned, drained and rinsed
  • 2 teaspoons Mexican oregano
  • ¼ cup coffee brewed (can be leftover from your morning java)
  • Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Smoked Beef Brisket Enchiladas

The smoky beef brisket is chopped and combined with cheese wrapped in a warm tortilla blanket, smothered in an amazing homemade enchilada sauce with bold, beautiful flavor. Before the enchiladas go into the oven, they are drenched with even more sauce and covered with a thick layer of cheese. The enchiladas are baked until all of the flavors have melded and the cheese is melted and gooey.

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 pound smoked beef brisket chopped
  • 6 flour tortillas
  • 2 ½ cups enchilada sauce divided
  • 2 cups cheese shredded (divided) – any Mexican blend and/or Queso Fresco

Topping Suggestions:

  • sour cream
  • fresh cilantro chopped
  • lime wedges
  • pickled jalapenos
  • green onion chopped

Leftover Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwiches

Leftover beef brisket sandwiches

I have to say that this is probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten! The intense nutty flavor and creaminess of the gooey melted gruyere cheese blankets the juicy brisket slices. At the same time, the barbecue sauce drips off of your hands onto the plate underneath crispy baked bread that is warm, soft, and squishy on the inside. Brisket and cheese sandwiches are hard to beat!

Ingredients Needed:

  • 1 Hoagie Roll
  • ¼ cup Shredded Cheese
  • ¾ cup Leftover Beef Brisket
  • 2 tablespoons Barbecue Sauce

Optional Toppings:

  • coleslaw
  • bacon
  • sweet pickles
  • pickled jalapenos
  • candied jalapenos
  • pepperoncini’s
  • pickled green tomatoes
  • red onion
  • avocado
  • horseradish sauce
  • hot sauce
